Narrated via a deeply personal conversation with its subject’s lifelong friend Tilda Swinton, WOLF traces the extraordinary life of British singer, songwriter and performer Patrick Wolf. A defining artist of his generation, Wolf rose against the backdrop of pre-digital 2000s London. Shapeshifting between indie popstar and avant-garde artist, he was a true maverick of his time. But when grief, addiction and schoolday traumas catastrophically collided, making music became a painful decade-long memory. Vivid, reflective and moving, this an exploration of enduring friendship, the burden of being a singular LGBTQ+ voice, and nature’s healing ability in allowing Wolf to find his voice again. Interweaving present-day moments, animation and intimate material from over fifty hours of previously unseen archival footage, WOLF is a journey of hope that shows that no one need be defined by the shadows of their past.
