Join Doc'n Roll on 22 September at 7pm for an exclusive 30-minute online event with Damien Dempsey. The multi-platinum-selling Irish singer-songwriter will be in conversation with director Ross Killeen as they announce the debut UK screenings of the critically acclaimed documentary Love Yourself Today.

Part documentary, part concert film, Love Yourself Today is an emotive celebration of modern spirituality and the power of music to heal.

Love Yourself Today not only spotlights Damien Dempsey's music and ethos, but also turns the lens onto the fans who gather every December for Damo’s Christmas gig at Vicar Street in Dublin. For many, these shows have become a cathartic ritual, a safe space where emotions can be laid bare.

Throughout the film, the focus is on Dempsey and three members of his audience. We hear their stories, unravel their grief and find the light in the darkness through communal art. With themes of addiction, loss but also hope and positivity, Dempsey’s music often reflects his fans' pain, alleviates their anguish and ultimately provides peace as they ‘sing all their cares away’.

As part of Doc’n Roll London 2021, Love Yourself Today will receive its UK premiere on 30 October at the Barbican Cinema, followed by screenings around the UK. Until then, join us for this free online event on 22 September for exclusive insights from the star and director into the making of this very special film.

“I’ve seen no better film about the social value of art. It’s both moving and motivating.” – Brian Eno
