The story of Don Cornelius, from his humble but proud beginnings in Chicago to his creation of the most important show in black music history. This documentary features interviews with Aretha Franklin, Teddy Pendegrass, Questlove, David Bowie, Sly Stone, Charlie Wilson, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, alongside footage of performances by Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Elton John, Gladys Knight and The Pips, Curtis Mayfield, Barry White, Gino Vannelli and Scotland’s own Average White Band.
