A feature documentary on the life and music of Phil Lynott, SONGS FOR WHILE I'M AWAY tells the story of how a young black boy from working-class 1950s Dublin became Ireland’s greatest rock star. As the singer and songwriter that led Thin Lizzy through their twelve album recording career, Lynott was more than a musician: he was an idol, a dreamer, a wildman. Told extensively through Phil’s own words and focusing on some of his most iconic songs, the film takes viewers behind the star persona, to the very heart of Philip Lynott - father, husband, friend, son, icon, bard. Phenomenon.
